It consisted of fawn cloth coat and skirt, with full vest of white satin, covered with white Honiton lace. The jacket had white satin revers, under Honiton lace, which extended to the back and formed a mitred sailor collar. With this costume was worn a black turban hat, with black sequin brim, full crown of dark cerise satin velvet, brim eaught up at one side with black os-

prey, and underneath cerise roses resting on her hair. Lady Ranfurly and Lady Constance Knox left Auckland for Sydney by the Westralia on Monday, accompanied by Hon. Chas. Hill Trevor. Lady Ranfurly looked exceedingly well in a travelling costume of coquelicot bouele cloth, cream satin vest, veiled with point lace, white sailor hat. Lady Constance Knox wore a fawn smocked blouse, navy blue skirt, sailor hat. Little Lady Eileen Knox, who was at the wharf to say good-bye, was /rocked in blue, white silk hat, with lace brim. There was a large attendance of the general public at the Easter Encampment, Epsom, on Sunday afternoon, when His Excellency reviewed the volunteers. After the Battalions had gone through their evolutions the crowd visited their friends in the camp and spent the remainder of a very pleasant afternoon promenading about the encampment. Most of fhe

Auckland companies entertained their friends at afternoon tea, the most attractive of the refreshment tents being that of King’s College Rifles. Here ai< abundance of good things were provided and the wants of the visitors most carefully looked after. The interior of the tent presented a most animated appearance, being crowded with an ever shifting throng of ladies. Great credit is due to Mrs Bruce and those who assisted her for the excellent entertainment which added so much to the enjoyment of the day.
