Dear Bee, December 22. The Convent school had their BR E A KING -UP CEREMON Y last Thursday afternoon in the presence of a large number of relatives and friends. After a very attractive programme had been gone through by a number of pupils one was allowed to go upstairs and inspect the fancy work, for which the convent excels, and which has surpassed the previous years, as there is such a variety. Among those wha were wandering up and down stairs and viewing the artistic paintings, drawings and fancy work, etc.. I noticed Mrs Hayward in grey; Miss Hayward, fawn; Miss K. Fraser, white muslin, sailor hat; Miss J. Fraser, vellow nun’s veiling, with chiffon trimmings, very pretty Tuscan hat. trimmed with daisies; Miss Scot, check costume; Miss Freeth, white, sailor hat; Mrs Holmes, stripe blouse, dark skirt: Mrs Corkill, pretty green and pink check costume, sailor hat; her little daughter was in pale blue; Mrs S. Miss Leslie, pink; Mrs Champian, slate coloured costume, hat with feathers. The brenking-up ceremony of the HIGH SCHOOL, took place last Friday afternoon. The room was prettily decorated with flowers and ferns, and there was a large attendance of friends, relatives and scholars to witness the distribution of priz.es. After several speeches were made by Mr Pridham (heed master) and Messrs McTaggart, Mae Diarmid and Roy, afternoon tea was partaken of.
