Dear Bee.— September 30. The Egmont Racing Chib held their SPRING MEETING last Wednesday and Thursday The weather beng fine, there was a good sprinkling of ladies. Great interest was taken in the ‘Lady's Bracelet ' which was won by Mrs D. Thurston’s Sir Athol,’ Mrs D. Riddiford’s Woodcock’ being second. Mr R. W. Nolan. president. presented the bracelet, which was a very handsome one, the stones being diamonds and sapphires. There were many prettv dresses worn, amongst the most noticeable on the lawn were:—Mrs Nolan. handsome black costume, black and white hat: Mrs Riddiford’ stylish Sydney costume of green cloth, trimmed with black braid and sable, pink silk vest, hat en suite: Mrs Brewer looked well in black, jet bonnet, with pink roses; Mrs Westenra, dark tweed, with braided trimmings. toque of turnnoise velvet, and black poppies: Mrs Baird, black coat and skirt: Mrs Brett, green skirt, velvet Russian blouse: Mrs G. Bayly was much admired in n green costume, black toque with violets; Mrs McLean, grey tweed, blnck bonnet: Mrs Crawshaw. navy bine coat ami skirt, white sailor hat: Mrs R. D. Welsh, black skirt, dainty blouse of black chiffon and cornflower blue silk, picture hat en suite; Mrs Mason, prettv grey costume, hat of chiffon: Mrs Harrison, a most becoming light fawn, with Tattersall's coat, sailor hat: Mrs Gill-Carey, looked distinguee in a brown tweed costume: Mrs Paget, brown tweed coat and skirt. Mrs White, wife of the manager of the Bank of New Zealand, at Hawera, gave an ‘AT HOME’ last Saturday afternoon. The house was beautifully decorated with spring flowers. Tea and coffee, and delicious dainties of all kinds were served in the dining-room and hall. Music ami songs were rendered during the afternoon, the latter being sung by Mesdames Westenra. Crawshaw, and A. Goodson. Mrs White received her guests in a black moire relieved with pink; Mrs Barton wore a very charming costume, black skirt, black ami blue chiffon blouse, picture hat; Mrs F. Lysaght. fawn coat and skirt; Mrs (iraves, black; Mrs Anson, dark blue, violet toque; Mrs 11. D. Welsh was much admired in green; Mrs Riddiford, fawn coat and skirt, hat en suite; Mrs .1. W. Scott, tweed costume. Others present were Mesdames Bayly, Harrison, McGuire. Nolan. Duckworth. Westenra, Crawshaw, A. Goodson, and Misses Bayly (2).
