It will be news to most people that England has a lady who is a University Fellow. Nevertheless, such is the case. The lady in question is Miss Philipps, a daughter of the Rev. Sil James Philipps, Bart,, and sister of Mr Wynford Philipps, M.P. The Emperor and Empress of Russia (says ‘Truth') are to spend a fortnight in "Denmark in August, after which they will go to Germany for several weeks, most of the time being passed at or near Darmstadt. It is probable that the Empress will go to England for short time in September in the very strictest incognito, in order that she may pay an entirely private visit to the Queen at Balmoral. The Empress of Russia was greatly benefited some years ago by a course of waters at Harrogate, and there has been some talk of her paying another visit to that place, as she has been very much out of health for the last six months.
It is not generally known that Queen Victoria has n. Jewish niece. The lady is the daughter of a musician who lived at Vienna, and was well-known as a singer and n pianist in that city, when prince Leopold of Saxe-Coburg, nephew to the Prince Consort, married her.
