< hi the occasion of her approaching marriage a very handsome present was made last evening to Miss Olive Russell by the teachers ami officers of St. John’s Wesleyan Sunday-school. The presentation was made at the residence of Mr Horsley, the superintendent of the school. It con sisted of a beautifully adorned silver teapot. Mr Horsley in a happy spee<*h made the presentation ami Mr Bartley also seconded. Miss Russell was a very valuable teacher to the young folks at the school, and was very much loved by them and highly esteemed by the teachers ami officers. Her place cannot easily Im* fille<l up. Every singer in a quartet ran give three good reasons why the organisation isn’t absolutely perfect. A telegram from Wellington records the death of Mrs Maxwell, wife of Mr J. P. Maxwell, ex-Railway <’oinniissioner.
