NOTES.
Tokatea Consuls (Coromandel). — A trial crushing of 15 tons of general ore is now is course of treatment at Scotty's battery, and a satisfactory return is anticipated.
Karaka Block Syndicate.—Another reef has been discovered on this property. Gold is showing in the stone in Poneke No. 2 west of the new find. Golden Opportunity. — The reef varies from 3ft to 9in in thickness, and shows gold by pounding and washing. Komata Triumph.—Two or three weeks more work will carry the surface prospecting trench to the eastern boundary. Nonpareil (Thames). —The Liverpool reef continues to show a little gold. Adelaide.—The new leader south of break showed strong colours of gold last breaking down. Kaiser (Thames).- —The reef is now a strong body of ore, and gold is to be seen by pulverising and washing. Crushing will be started early next week. Bunker’s Hill.—ln breaking down the leader this week slt> of stone showing gold freely were selected from the general dirt. Tandem.—The lode is 18 inches wide, with occasional colours of gold seen in the stone. Jersey.—The lender in this mine shows gold freely each breaking down. City of Auckland. —The reef in Taylor’s gully is 15ft wide, and shows a little gold by panning off. Five assays done from it averaged £5 13s Gd per ton. Royal Oak.—Ore of very high grade has been broken out lately, and another good crushing is expected. Flossie. —Several pounds of stone have been obtained from this Kennedy Bay mine which showed niee blotches of gold. Golconda. —The machinery which is now in course of erection at this mine will greatly facilitate underground workings, and should be ready for work in a few days. Seotty’s Hauraki.—This mine, which has been shut down for some months past, resumed operations again this week. Coromandel Freehold. — The ton of general ore crushed at the Thames gave a return of loz 2dwt. value per ton. £3 Is 2d. The tailings assayed a little over 15s per ton. Komata Reefs.—The return from this company should be to hand by the beginning of next week, and is expected to prove more than payable in value. Golden Hill Extended.—Tributers have now intersected the main reef, and the stone broken shows strong gold. Union Ironworks.—Mr Bruce Lloyd, the local representative of the Union Ironworks, has secured contracts from Mr Ziman for the supply of a quantity of machinery to the mines at Reefton. Hauraki North. —In the western section at No. 2 level, good stone showing gold is coming to hand. The stopes are also showing gold every breaking down. The reef here is looking remarkably well and .measures quite 3ft., and will be able to keep the battery fully employed.
