Dear Bek, September 23. I am very sorry to say that the LAST ASSEMBLY of this season was held on Wednesday night at the Theatre Royal. Although the weather has generally been against us, there has always been a good gathering, and the committee deserve great praise for the way in which they made the evenings so enjoyable. Among some of the ladies there I noticed Mrs Westmacott, in black lace and pink ; Miss Hoby, white; Mrs Maurison, a very handsome white satin; Miss M. Hookes, green and white; Mrs Warren, black ; Miss Stanford, green satin; Mrs Messenger, pink crepon ; Misses Hursthouse, white ; Miss Hammerton, pink ; Mrs Stanford, black ; Miss B. Bayly, white; Miss G. Fookes, white; Mrs Bramley, black; Miss Glynes, blue, and pink roses; Misses Kirkby, pretty white ; Miss Burgess, black and green ; Miss Webster, pink; Miss Matthews, blue; Miss Knight, blue and pink ; Mrs Bayly, black; Miss Saddler, white silk ; Miss Corrigan looked handsome in yellow silk ; Mrs Holdsworth, black velvet; Miss Young, a pretty yellow trimmed with chiffon ; Miss Hammerton, white ; Miss Teed looked very dainty in pink and green ; Miss Thomson, white ; Mrs Cartbew, brown ; Miss Riddell, cream and green ; Miss Rochfort, cream ; Miss Dalziel, looking charming in black satin and amber sleeves ; Mrs Allen, black ; Miss Stanford, cream and green ; Mrs Fookes, black ; Miss Holdworth, pink and green ; Miss Carthew, white ; Mrs Webster, black; Miss Armstrong, pink ; Miss B. Rennell, white with scarlet flowers ; Mrs Penn, white silk ; Miss H. Humphries, pink ; Miss M. Fookes, white satin trimmed with blue ; Miss Bedford, white muslin trimmed with pale blue flowers and ribbons ; Mrs Holmes, pink brocade ; Miss G. Holdsworth, white satin and scarlet; Miss C. Bayly looked very nice in yellow silk ; Mrs Teed, black and white ; Miss E. Rennell, white and heliotrope ; Miss Cambell, blue velvet and white ribbons; Miss Arrow, a very handsome orange satin ; Miss S. Cunningham, a dainty white muslin, scarlet flowers ; Miss Fraser, yellow net over the same coloured satin ; Miss Berry, a very pretty orange coloured silk trimmed with chiffon and narcissi; Miss Johnson looked distinguie in red silk ; Miss Berry, black ; Miss O. Tuke looked handsome in white silk; Mrs Taunton, pink ; Miss K. Humphries, black gown ; Miss Stuart, heliotrope and black gown. Some of the gentleman were Messrs Clarke (two), Strouts, Rennell, Didsbury, Jay, Weston, Webster, Glynes, Hoby (two), Arden, Perrim, Drs Walker and La Praik, Messrs Noble, Holdsworth, Kirkby, Fookes, Wright, Stocker, Hopkins, Thomson (two), Teed (two), Taylor, Broad, Spencer, Hutchen, Warren, Hughes, Holmes, Lusk, Maingay, Penn, Carthew, McPhail, Stanford, Russell, Allen, Messenger, Bedford, Burgess, Cornwell, Moffat, Standish, McKellar, etc.
