NELSON.
Dear Bee, August 4. On Wednesday evening a very pleasant SOCIAL -v as held in the Provincial Hall in connection with St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church. The musical part of the programme was most enj oj able. Those who assisted were Mesdames Howie and Burns, the Misses Larkins, -Scott (two), Messrs Light (two), Corrigan, and others. The hall was artistically decorated with ferns and flags. Delicious refreshments were served, and then the floor was soon cleared for dancing, which was kept up with .great spirit to the strains of Martin’s band. On Saturday evening another meeting of the girls’ club was held at the Girls’ College. The usual programme was somewhat changed, music giving way to a lecture "by Mr J. W. Joynt, Principal of the Boys’ College, which he illustrated with most beautiful limelight views. The •entertainment was much enjoyed by all present, but it is regretted that so few of the past pupils were able to attend. Some of those present were the Misses Gibson, •Gribben, Watt, Catley, Browning, Harris, Perrin, Catley, Blackett, Houlker, Rowley, Robinson, Fell, Norman, Enwright, Fair, West, Long, and many ■others.
Phyllis.
