WORK COLUMN.

This little jacket in close crochet is intended tor children of tender age. The dimensions can easily be enlarged, if necessary. It can be tied either behind or in front, with strings of ribbon, braid or a cord of crochet, chain and D.c. Three skeins of grey or coloured fingering are required. Make a gusset the same as before, after the 4th rib. and again in the middle of the back, a few stitches longer than the others, on the totb rib. Work the other half of the jacket the same. The sleeve.—Work the upper part of the sleeve looser, and the wrist tighter, to make it a nice shape. Upon 30 chain work D.c , increase 1 chain every row at the shoulder till there are 36 stitches on the row. and after 2 rows decrease gradually to 30 stitches again. When there are 17 ribs at the wrist work 17 dc. from the upper part of the sleeve. 3 single, turn, 3 single,

D.c. to the top of the sleeve. Sew up the sleeve, turn up the cuff and work S scallops round it. - 5 treble in a space, miss 1. a single, miss 1. repeat from - and work the same scallop all round the jacket. Make 2 rows of treble round the neck, and upon this work 10 scallops.
