BOWLING.

On Saturday afternoon two teams each from the Parnell and the Newmarket Bowling Clubs visited the Remuera Bowling Green and played two very interesting matches with that Club. In the match with Parnell, Remuera won by a majority of four points, and was also successful in carrying off the Newmarket match by a majority of ten points. There was a very large attendance of ladies and friends, and the grounds were in perfect order. During the afternoon tea was provided by Mrs Bruce, of King’s College, assisted by Mesdames D. E. Clerk, Hamlin, the Misses Maxfield (two), and others. The following are the details of the matches :— No. 1 Rink. Remuera. Parnell G. Bruce v. Kerry Rev. W. Beatty Steele H. S. Ruddock Mackechnie A. No. 4 Rink. R. Hull v. N. Keat J. Brown D. Anderson F. W. Court W. Southwell Geo. Court, skip ..20 Kilgour, skip .. 16 44 54 Won by Remuera by 10 pointe. In the match between Dingwall’s and Hazelden’s teams, Mr Dingwall’s team, commencing at the sixth head, scored without a break till the 12th head, the game at that stage standing— Remuera 22, Parnell 4. After this both sides scored almost equally, and the game finished, Parnell 11, Remuera 27. In the match between Holden’s and Stewart’s teams, Remuera secured a good lead till the 14th head, the game being Remuera 14, Parnell 9. On the 15th head the team skipped by the veteran bowler Stewart, scored 5, making both sides equal. Another five was scored on the 18th head by the Parnell team, and they eventually won the game by 12 points. In the match between Court’s and Kilgour’s teams on the 14th head the score stood Court 8, Kilgour 12. On the 15th head Court’s team scored 5, thus giving the Remuera team a lead of 1 point. After this the scoring was very equally divided till the last head, when Court’s team scored another five, and thus won the game by 4 points. In the other game between Hardie’s and Laxon's team the play was equal at 7 all. It was again equal on the 14th head at 14 all. On the 17th Hardie’s team scored 5, making the game Remuera 20, Newmarket 16, which on the 21st head became Remuera 24, Newmarket 18. The Remuera Club have played 6 inter-club matches, and they have won 3 and lost 3, which is very creditable to a Club in its first year, and not losing sight of the fact that in each team there have been included members who have never played before this season. The 6 matches include two with Ponsonby, who defeated Remuera by 26 points with the two encounters. The two matches with Auckland came out equal, Remuera having lost the match on the Auckland green by 29, and in the return match on their own green they reversed matters and won by the same number, 29 points. In the six matches the total points against them are 55 and in their favour 43, so they (Remuera) lose on the whole by 12 points. CLUB MATCHES.
