Dear Bee, August 24. THE OLD COLLEGE BOYS’ BALL was held on Friday evening last, which is always looked forward to with a very great amount of interest, and this year there was certainly no exception to the rule. Mrs W. Empsom admirably fulfilled the role of hostess. The hall was tastefully decorated for the occasion with palms and mirrors. The stewards did everything possible to make the ball a success. A special word of praise is due to Mr J. M. Marshall, who was most assiduous in carrying out the onerous duties of hon. secretary and treasurer. The costumes worn by the ladies were ohArming. Mrs G. Nixon, orange silk; Mrs Buxton, cream lustre; Mrs Higgie. back and white; Miss N. Brabant, pretty in cream ; Miss A. Cowper, creain : Miss Page, white silk ; Miss Martelli, pretty pink and black ; Miss M. Donell (Rangitikei), pretty blue lustre, white lace; Miss Blackmore, white satin ; Miss Harrison, pink : Miss Duncan, cream; Miss Blair, cream; Miss Earle, white; Miss Durie. black satin; Miss Peat, cream silk; Miss L. Krull, cream, salmon pink trimming ; Miss McDonald (Turakina), handsome pink silk, jet trimmings ; Miss Mcßeth (Marton), blue satin : Miss Hatherly. cream and gold: Miss Jackson, white satin: Miss Krull, black and white. Among the gentlemen present I noticed Messrs Marshall. Russell. Le Cren, Pattersen (two). A. Kitchen. Blair. Dr. Saunders. Colonel Fry, Messrs Norton (two), Craig (two). Speed. Montgomery, Morse, and several others. Violet.
