Dear Bee, June 10 The dresses worn on the stage by the lady amateurs taking part in ‘A Scrap of Paper,’ were as follows : —Mrs March makes her first appearance in a brown tweed walking costume trimmed w’ith velvet and passementerie, with picture brown velvet hat; her second is a black one with handsome pink sleeves covered with chiffon, and later a brown velvet dinner dress with deep revers of yellow trimmed with passementerie and stole ends, in which she looks very handsome. Miss Henry wears a dainty costume of blue with pink trimming, and afterwards a dinner dress of white. Miss G. Henry is in black with green silk blouse, short cape, and large hat. Her dinner gown is black with handsome lace bertha. Miss Trixie appears in a jaunty riding costume, and then a white frock with silk sash. Among those present were Mr and Mrs Stead, the latter in black silk with square cut bodice trimmed with jet. white cloak: Mr and Mrs Bourne, the latter wearing black silk skirt and grey satin blouse steel passementerie and lace : Mr and Mrs G. Merton. Dr. and Mrs Jennings, the latter in very pretty pink evening gown; Mr and Mrs Walcot Wood, the latter in white silk and very dainty Trilby cape ; MrsQuane, Mrs De Vries, Mrs Nelson. Mr and Mrs J. D. Hall, Mr and Miss Cowlishaw, Miss Way, Mr. Mrs and Miss Meares. Mr Gibbs, Miss N. Marchant. Mr and Miss Kinsey, Mr P. Wood, etc., etc. Mr and Mrs J. J. Kinsey. Papanui Road, had a few friends on Saturday evening and formed a small glee club. Some few years ago Mr Kinsey had the same kind of evening, the result of which eventually produced an abbreviated representation of ‘Patience.’ which was given in St. Michael’s schoolroom, giving pleasure to some two or three hundred people, for the room was packed to the doors. This only began with glees, so we may hope on. but at present the little circle is composed of Mr and Mrs I. Gibbs, Mr Carrick and his niece, Miss Martin, Mr and Misses Meares (two*. Mrs T. Garrard.
