Dear Bee, October 15. Judging from the flattering remarks made on ever? side, the bachelors have every reason to consider their ball on Friday last, to be THE BALL OR THE SEASON. The hall was prettily decorated with flags, nikau palms, lycopodium. arum lilies, etc. The stage was arranged as a drawing room, with cosy corners curtain d off for the weary to rest in. The supper—of which there was any amount, thanks to the ladies—was laid out in a large tent at the side of the hall. The music was supplitd by Messrs Vannini and Rabbet ts. The ladie who helped wore butterflies in their hair, and the gentlemen worred rosettes pinned to their coats. The bachelors stood in two rows down the centre of the hall to receive thei: guests. Not many went in fancy dress, but those who did looked very nice. Mr A. Duncan, who went as a Pirate, was considered the beau of the evening; Mr Salmon as Volunteer Officer, and Mr G. Beauchamp also looked very nice It would be hard to say who was the belle. All the ladies looked lovely.
