DUNEDIN.

Dear Bee, September 3. On Saturday Mrs Cutten (Andersons Bay) gave a large ‘AT HOME.’ The day was rather stormy, but nevertheless crowds of people turned out. Delicious tea, coffee, and cakes of all kinds were served in one room, while fruits and sweets were served in another. The table in the former was one mass of purple violets, while that in the latter was gorgeous with high vases of daffodils and other sweet-scented bulbs. Hyacinths and cinerarias in pots were placed all about the other rooms. A small stage erected at one end of the large dining-room was uiilised for the recitations, songs and other amusements, which made the afternoon pass way all too quickly. Some 1 noticed among the guests were Mrs Ogston, in fawn cashmere prettily trimmed with bengaline silk to match ; Mrs Napier Bell, stylish black serge, blue cloth waistcoat, smart bonnet to match ; Mrs F. The whole of the room was hung with bunting, and decorated with trea ferns, ropei of Hags were suspended across the ceiling, and produced an extremely pretty effect. The stage looked very inviting arranged as a drawing-room, with numerous pot plants, cosy chairs, etc. The table was really one of the roost effectively designed ones which have been seen for a long time in Dunedin. It was entirely decorated with the red and yellow colours of the club. A largo lamp with lovely yellow and red shade stood in the centre of the table. On each aide of it from end to end were high candlesticks shaded alternately with yellow and red. Between the candleslicks high vases of jonquils tend daffodils wore placed.
