Dear Bee, August 17. Miss Elsie Napier Bell gave a girls’ afternoon tea in Miss McKenzie’s rooms, from four to six p.m. Delicious cakes and sweets of all kinds were placed about the rooms on small tables. About forty girls were present. Misses Marjorie Turton. Molly Sale. Ruby Roberts, gave verv pleasant recitations. Miss Elsie Bell danced a charming clog d ince in costume. Amongst those present were Misses Maitland. Bathgate, Ulrich. Cameron, Rattray. Western. Farquhaj, Gibson. Turton. Roberts. McLean. Allan. Fraser, M. Sale. Margarget Sale, Batchelor. D. Bartieman, M. Shand, A. Shand. F. Denniston, Harte, Sinclair, C. Graham. Goal ter, L. Holmes, etc. On Monday evening the usual meeting of THE LADIES' SAVAGE CLUB was held at Mrs Ogston’s (High-street). Miss Webster. Miss Shand, and Miss Sise were chdrwonvn for the evening. The programme was printed by Mrs Woodhouse and Miss Georgia Webster. As the evening was such a successful one, I must mention the items to you. First Miss Gwen Roberts played a very brilliant pianoforte solo; then Miss M. Cargill recited a very touching piece by Bret Harte; Miss Susie Graham, in a Swiss costume, with a group of girls around her also in Swiss costume sang a very pretty jodel song; next the Misses R. and 8. Webster danced a very bright Scotch dance in quaint Scotch costumes ; the dance was called ‘Blue Bonnets.’ Mrs Shand accompanied them on the piano excellently. Mrs A J. Ferguson then sang •Darby and Joan,’ which was splendidly illustrated by Miss Car ? fill as ‘Joan,’ and Miss G. Webster as ‘Darby.’ The sixth and ast item was the reading of the prize essay, which was won by Miss Browning. She received as her prize a handsome cut-glass smelling-bottle.
