Dear Bee, December 3. The cricket match UW VERSUS BANKS AND INSURANCE attracted a fair number of spectators. Law won easily. Mrs and Miss Troutbeck, assisted by the Misses Marden (two) and Garston, kindly provided afternoon tea. which was duly appreciated. Amongst the many present were Mrs Frank Logan and the Misses Cotterill (two). Miss G. Jago, Miss McVay, Miss Blythe, Mrs George White, Miss Heath, Mrs Courtenay Bowen, Mrs Willie Anderson, Mrs J. W. Carlile, Miss Begg, the Misses Hitchings, Mrs E. R. Nicholls, etc., etc. PERSONALITIES. Mrs and Miss Tougood (nee Miss Tyleel have arrived in New Zealand from Home, and no doubt will shortly be here as they have several relations in Napier, and many friends. Lady Whitmore and Mrs Dixon have returned from Rotorua. Miss Mary Balfour has gone to Dunedin for a visit. Miss Herrick is visiting Mrs Ormond. Miss Kennedy has gone to Christchurch to stay with her sisters, Mrs F. Thompson and Mrs Jim Wood, who both reside there. Mr and Mrs Barton from Fielding are staying at the Masonic Hotel with their two little boys. Miss Carrie Watson, a pupil of Mr Sydney Hoben’s, gave a PIANO RECITAL at the Dresden Company’s warehouse. The audience was a select one, it being by invitation that all were present. Miss Watson proved herself equal to the performance of her interpretation of Mendelssohn’s difficult concerto in G Minor. The Rev. Mr Patterson, Pastor of the Presbyterian Church, was presented at a social evening with a handsome black gown. Mr J. Crerar made the presentation on behalf of the ladies of the congregation. MR BARNETT’S FINAL CONCERT was attended largely, as indeed the programme merited. He was assisted by the Liedertafel, and Messrs Humphries and Dreker and Davidson. Mr Barnett never was heard to better advantage, and was most unselfish in contributing so many delightful items. Amongst the many there were Mr and Mrs P. S. McLean and Miss Lowry, Mr and Mrs Coleman and the Misses Watts. Mrs G. Moore, Mr and Mrs Troutbeck, Mr and Mrs N. Kettle. Mrs and Miss Ormond, Mrs and Miss Dinwiddie. Mrs and Miss Heath. Miss White, Mrs and MissCornford, Mr and the Misses Lyndon, Mr and Mrs Jardine. Mr and Mrs F. Logan. Misses Cotterill, Mr and Mrs Bridges, Mrs F. Williams, Mrs Macfarlane, Mr and Mrs Turnbull, Mr and Mrs Kinross, White, etc.
