CLIPPER YACHT MARITANA, 13 RATER.

THIS handsome pleasure craft was built to special design by Messrs Carr and Sons, of Auckland, in

1889 for Mr W. V. Bindon, by whom she was sailed to Wellington to take partin the regatta of 1891, but arrived just a day too late. The yacht was then sold by her owner to a small syndicate of Wellington yachtsmen, and at their hands has been much improved in trim and rig, etc. ; she has been a prominent feature in all local yachting events and has beenasuccessful prize winnerduringthe presentseason 1893-4. She has carried off the Levin Memorial Cup, the first class prize of £5O and a trophy in the annual regatta, and also the Downes Challenge Cup—having in all cases to give her competitors considerable time allowance. Her owners have made extended cruises to the Sounds, Port Underwood, Kapiti Island, Nelson, and elsewhere, in which the yacht has proved herself a grand sea boat, exceptionally dry and comfortable. Her dimensions are 54ft over all, 38ft L.W.L., 9ft beam, 9ft draft, carries 8 tons lead outside and 3| inside, is proportionately sparred, and has full suits of both racing and cruising sails. Tbe cabin accommodation is equal to any yacht of her class in New Zealand, handsomely ornamented and 'cushioned in a most comfortable manner—l6ft long by 9ft wide with 6ft head room under deck beams, and Bft under large skylight. Fore cabin, 12ft long, is fitted with stove, chain and sail, lockers, etc., also with good head room. There is also a comfortable cockpit sft by 4ft. She is built on the diagonal principle, bull 3 skins and deck 2 skins.
