PICTON.
Dear Bee, February 21. Our dissipations this week are mild affairs, as usual, but enjoyable, nevertheless. First on the programme is a EUCHRE PARTY AT CAM HOUSE, given by Mr and Airs H. C. Seymour to a gay party of young people, who all enjoyed themselves immensely. The fun was kept up till 2 a.in , the young people quite forgetting the flight of time in their eagerness to cover themselves with glory and decorations. Miss Eva Western and Mr Fox carried off first honours, and Miss Isabel Seymour and VI. Western the boobies. On Monday Mrs Waddy gave an AFTERNOON TEA on Spoon Beach to a small party, who went out to try the sailing Sowers of Mr Ratcliffe’s new boat, there being present Mr ana Irs Waddy. Mrs Grimstone. the Misses E. Waddy, Fell (two), Mellish, and Messrs Ratcliffe. Wynn Williams (two), and G. Waddy. A pleasant sail and much appreciated tea followed. On Friday the Excelsior Society gave a BLACKBERRY PICNIC AT PARA, going out by train in the morning, and returning at 6p m. The committee had made excellent arrangements for their guests, and a most enjoyable day was spent. Blackberries were plentiful, the young people industrious, and a welcome addition was made in this way to the home collection of jam. The tiny ones of Miss Linton’s school arranged A PAPER CHASE last Wednesday. The foxes—Edith Waddy and Belle Allen—got a good start, ana the hounds dropped out of it altogether quite early in the run, though the paper scattered about for days afterwards told a tale of a fox, which those who ran might read. The hounds called in at The Wilderness to make enquiries, where t hey w’ere regaled with tea and cake, and calmly awaited the return of the foxes to their den o. On Monday following the return chase started from Mr* Rutherford’s grounds. The little ones w’ere all in good fettle after a good afternoon tea. and caught a fox (Miss Isabel Rutherford) amid cheers and much excitement.
Jean.
