Dear Bee, February 22. The Star Boating Club's sheds were crowded in every part on Saturday afternoon, on the occasion of THE SWIMMING SPORTS. The weather was beautiful, and the various events w*ere well contested, and were watched with great interest by the spectators, among whom were a large number of ladies. The visitors had been invited by members of the Club, and w’ero during the afternoon regaled with tea and all kinds of delicious cakes, scones, etc., and a band discoursed sweet music at intervals. AMONG THOSE PRESENT were Lady Gorst wearing a handsome b ack gown trimmed with jet and lace, and a black bonnet; Miss Gorst in a cream serge jacket and skirt, pink silk blouse and a sailor hat; Mrs Duncan in black brocade with long lace mantle and black jet bonnet; Miss Duncan wore a cream serge trimmed with bands of moss green velvet, and a brown velvet hat with pink roses and lack wings; the Misses Tuckey, white muslin dresses with frilled capes, and black lace hats with flowers; Mrs Whittail, fawn tweed trimmed with bronze beaded gimp, and a brown hat with feathers; Miss Leek, a black skirt and jacket, and white b ou«e. and black hat with feathers ; Miss Bethune, grey tweed, and grey hat with grey feathers; Miss Pearce, a pretty cream figured silk gown, and black hat trimmed with cream lace: Mrs Turnbull, shot silk, and long black lace m<ntle; Miss Turnbull, blue skirt and blouse, and black hat: Mrs Mantell, white duck costume, and black hat with flowers; Mrs G. The Duco was chartered, and convened the party all round the harbour for the day, and at various places the little steamer anchored and the guests flshed for an hour or two. The weather was glorious, and after a delightful day the party returned by moonlight. Mr and Mrs Bell have given several dinner panies for Lady Gorst, who has also been entertained by many other people. AT THE FLOWER SHOW there were a number of pretty dresses worn Mrs Walter Johnston was stylishly dressed in black, with a black bonnet with a jet osprey; Miss Ida Johnston wore white muslin, and a long narrow sash of black and white plaid ribbon, and a black lace and jet hat; Miss Siddie Johnston, white muslin prettily trimmed with lace, and a plaid sash like her sister’s, and a white hat trimmed with black and white chiffon; Miss Pearce, biscuitcoloured figured Indian silk trimmed with biscuit lace, and a black hat with biscuit coloured wings of lace ; Mrs Grace, a very handsome gown of pale cornflower blue brocaded with black, the sleeves striped with black, and the skirt edged with a large flounce of the material edged with black, and a black and white bonnet trimmed with cornflowers; Miss Alice Grace, white muslin, the skirt trimmed with one large flounce edged with lace, and a large grey hat with feathers and pink roses; Mrs Ferguson, a shot gown, and hat to match with flowers ; Mrs Joseph, pale greyish tweed trimmed with green velvet, and bonnet to match : Mrs — Joseph, black soft silk figured with fawn, and revers of fawn satin, and a small black bonnet with flowers ; Mrs Turnbull, shot silk and black lace mantle ; Mrs Rhodes, a handsome black cloth costume, and black jetted bonnet; Miss Reeves, of Christchurch. who is staying with Mrs Rhodes, wore a pretty gow n of black and white corduroy cloth, and a black hat ; Mrs Brandon, black silk and velvet, and a Gobelin blue bonnet: Miss Brandon, grey trimmed with shot silk, and a large cream hat: Miss A. Brandon, cornflower blue with epaulettes of biscuit lace, and a large upturned cream hat trimmed with chiffon ; Airs Bethune, black; Miss Bethune, grey, and grey feather hat; Mrs Burne, black satin and floral bonnet; Mrs Ross, a handsome black costume; Mrs Prouse, a black and red striped gown, and also Mrs Focke, Mrs Eberle, Mrs Crawford, Miss Moeller, Miss Hall, Mrs and Miss Bannister, Miss Koch, Mrs Williams, and many others. THE HOSPITAL GARDEN PARTY was very largely attended, and among those present were Mrs Von Staveren, in black with yellow satin bodice, and black and yellow' bonnet; Mrs Dr. McKenzie wore a black skirt, w’hito blouse, and a black hat with feathers ; Mrs Whittali, in a fawn and brown costume; Mrs Leckie, in black ; Mrs Hislop wore pale green, and black bonnet; Mrs W. Ferguson, a rainbow gown trimmed with shot silk; Mrs Izard, black brocade and lace mantle ; Miss Izard, a white gown trimmed with embroidery, and black hat trimmed with apricot coloured roses ; Mies Lewis, who is staying with Mrs Izard, wore a dull green gown, with a yoke and sash of shot green and pink brocade, the gown being much trimmed with jet. black hat with feathers and roses; Miss Richmond, who has just returned from the South, wore pink with large black hat, black lace boa : Mrs Gore, grey silk ; Miss A.
