ORANGE BLOSSOMS.

SMITH—MEE. A PARTICULARLY pretty wedding took place at St. Mary’s Church, Timaru, when Mr Herbert G. Smith, second son of the late Mr A. B. Smith, Mona Vale, was married to Miss Agnes E. Mee, second daughter of Mr John Mee, Timaru. The ceremony was performed by the Ven. Archdeacon Harper. A little after 2 o’clock the bride entered the church with her father, who afterwards gave her away, and was followed by six bridesmaids. She was attired in a very pretty dress of ivory tinted cashmere with silk sprays, and wore a tulle veil fastened with orange blossoms. She carried an exquisite shower bouquet. The bridesmaids, who made a charming group, were the Misses Maggie and Nancy Smith (sisters of the bridegoom), Miss M Bilton, and the three sisters of the bride—Misses Edith, Jessie, and Ida Mee. They were daintily gowned in pink crSpon, the front of theskirts trimmed with festooned flounces of lace, white silk and lace nicely arranged on the bodices. They wore very pretty white picture hats. Each carried a spray bouquet and wore a gold brooch, the gift of the bridegroom. The bridegroom was attended by Mr Jack Mee as best man. The other groomsmen were Messrs Robert, Frank, and Cecil Smith, Wilcocks, and Taylor. Among the guests present were Miss Mee (England), aunt of the bride, in handsome black satin trimmed with fine lace, bonnet to match with grey tips, scarlet bouquet; Mrs C. Overton Smith (sister of the bride), blue whipcord costume with fawn corded silk vest and pretty cornflower bonnet ; Mrs McLaren in black satin ; Mrs George Mee (Wellington), black silk and stylish primrose bonnet; Miss Mee (Wellington), white drill skirt, white embroidery zouave over pale blue silk blouse, hat with forget me note ; Mrs England Gillingham, pearl grey ; Mrs S. Gillingham, black ; Mrs M. White, black silk, bonnet with violets;

Miss Gardiner in white and heliotrope, bouquet of clematis Mrs Cramond, black silk, lace mantle, beautiful White bouquet ; Mi-s Ferens in grey and buttercup, hat to match. Among the gentlemen guests were Messrs McLaren, M. White, R. R. Taylor, Wilcocks, Fraser, S. Gillingham, Smith (two). At the conclusion of the service the wedding party drove to Mr Mee’s residence, when afternoon tea was dispensed and the cake cut by the bride. Over one hundred guests attended the garden party, and the pretty grounds presented a most brilliant scene. In the afternoon the newlymarried pair left amid a shower of rice and slippers for Fairlie, where they were met by a four-in-hand and driven to ‘ Waratah,’ their future home. The bride’s travelling dress was fawn checked tweed, cape and hat en suite. The presents, which were tastefully laid out in the ante room, were numerous and costly, one being a very handsome piano. STEELE—HAWKINS. AVERY quiet little wedding took place at an early hour last Tuesday week at St. John’s Church, Latimer Square, Christchurch, when Miss Alice Hawkins was married to Mr Richard Steele. As only relatives were present, I cannot tell you much about it, but I believe the bride looked well in a very neat-fitting travelling dress. The happy pair left by express en route to the lakes, where the honeymoon is to be spent.
