LOVE— KEEN AX. ON Thursday Waikawa (Pieton) was cm fete to witness the marriage of Pompei Love, a grandson of old Dan Love, the ehief, to Miss Henrietta Keenan, one of the surviving children of the late William Keenan, of Hitaua, Tory Channel. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Heteraka, the Maori clergyman of Wairan, in the presence of all the Maoris assembled from different parts of the country, and many European friends. The bride was elegantly dressed in white silk, with long flowing veil of tulle fastened on her dark hair with a small coronet of orange blossoms, and her bouquet of white flowers, grown at Waikawa, was much admired, as also was she herself, looking extremely handsome in her bridal costume. The schoolhouse, where the ceremony was performed, was elaborately decorated with flowers and ferns, and the party were afterwards entertained at the residence of Mrs Dan Love, junr. CARR— CLEX DOX. The wedding of Miss Ella Carr, eldest daughter of Mr R. C. Carr, Queen-street, to Mr Edwin Clendon, solicitor, of the Thames, son of Mr Clendon, R.M. (of Whangarei), was a very pretty affair. The ceremony was performed in the Remuera Mission Hall by the Rev. Canon Gould, assisted by the Rev. F. Larkins. The building still retained some of its Christmas decorations, which were revivified for this occasion. The bride looked lovely in a handsome white surah silk, long square train, waist bodice trimmed with frills of Honiton lace, and yoke of the same, white tulle veil and orange blossoms. Her brooch, the gift of the bridegroom, was a beautiful gold ornament, and she carried an exqnisite shower bonquet cleverly arranged by Miss Mary White, of Parnell, cousin of the bridegroom. The bridesmaids were the Misses Mabel Tilley (chief), Cecily Carr, Dorrie Carr, Hazel Morrin, Elsie Battley, and Ella Cooper. The two first were attended by Mr D. Nolan (best man). They wore greenstone and gold brooches, the gift of the bridegroom. A very recherche afternoon tea was partaken of after the ceremony at ‘ Kingsclerc,’ Mrs Cart 's residence, the plenitude of delicious strawberries being quite a feature of the refreshments, which included what were once only supper dishes, but have now, alas ! become the common adjuncts of a smart 4 o'clock tea. The bride’s going away dress, which suited her admirably, was a stylish white serge, the jacxet trimmed with military braid, pale blue vest, burnt straw sailor bat with band of pale blue ribbon. The happy two, who made a very handsome pair, were, on leaving the honse, deluged with rose leaves, which fell in a shower from balcony and terrace. Rice was to have been omitted, but some cruel boys added it at the last. Many good wishes accompanied the couple. The presents were very handsome, and of the usual description. The Lower Remuera Sunday-school, where she was held in esteem both as a scholar and teacher, presented the bride with a handsome cabinet. BROOKFIELD—DICKEY. The old Maori church at Mangere wore quite a festive appearance on Thursday last, when Miss Diekey was united to Mr Harold Brookfield, son of the well known solicitor. The vessels at the Onehunga wharf showed their bunting in honour of the occasion, and the ehnrch was decorated with flowers, while the bride and bridegroom stood under an immense floral horse shoe, which it is to be hoped will bring them good luck in their wedded life. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. Mulgan, and after the guests had partaken of Mr and Mrs Dickey’s hospitality in the shape of the usual * breakfast,’ the happy pair were driven to the wharf and went on board the Gairloch amongst a shower of rice. The ehnrch was crowded with Onehunga friends as well as those of Mangere, and the scene was enlivened by a good many of the natives of the district in gay colours, all anxious for a sight of the wedding party. The bride was attired in a very handsome dress of white merveilleux silk, long veil, and beautiful white bouquet. She was attended at the altar by four bridesmaids. The two elder ones—Miss A. Trainer and Miss M. Dickey—were in rich pink crepon dresses, and carried pretty pink and white bouquets; while the two little ones—Veda Dickey and Ida Sharland—wore cream ciepon with white bouquets.
