Very few of the ladies wore evening dress, but I noticed the Misses Russell looking very cool and nice in white Liberty silk gowns. During the performance several good local hits were effected, which seemed to tickle the audience immensely. Miss Hitchings looked very nice as Serpolette. Mrs Sheath <ang and acted charmingly. The next exei ement is the children’s plain and fancy dress dance at the Heretaunga School. COOKERY. Some Hastings ladies went to N inier where a number were attending Miss Wardrop’s cookery lectures. The lectures are most interesting, and should prove very useful to my lady friends. Dolly.
