Dear Bee, October 3. We have been so very gay the last few days. I hardly know where to begin to tell you about our dissipations. MRS ARCHIE CLARK'S DANCE. Though the end of the season I noted some charming gowns. Our hostess wore a very handsome flowered silk dress trimmed with Liberty silk ; Mrs McMillan, pale canary silk trimmed richly with white net and beads : Mrs W. Bloomfield, elegant brocaded maizecoloured silk : Mrs Ware, white silk covered with black lace; Mrs Sam Morrin, dark dress. Miss Johnson, of Erin Lodge, Parnell, gave A LARGE AFTERNOON TEA last Friday to all her young lady friends. The weather was very stormy, and kept away many of the would-be guests. Musical items were rendered during the afternoon by Misses Laishley and Thomson, etc. It will not be necessary for me to describe the guests’ dresses, as so many have been mentioned at other afternoon teas or street dresses. Our hostess looked extremely well in a neat-fitting navy dress with white yoke and bebe sleeves edged with black braid. Afternoon tea was served in another room, where the guests adjourned and partook of trifles, jellies, cakes, sweets, etc.

Mrs Arthur Taylor, of Manukau Road. Parnell, gave a very large • GIRLS* AFTERNOON TEA last Thursday, and she was ably assisted to entertain her guests by her sisters, the Misses Von Sturmer. Amongst those who contributed towards the musical part of the afternoon were our hostess. Mrs A. Taylor, who charmed her guests with a song,,as also Misses Kilgour, Thomson, Rita Tole, Flora Thorpe. The pianoforte soloists were the Misses Laishley. Flossie White, Von Sturmer, O’Brien, etc. At the close of the afternoon the guests adjourned to another room, where refreshments were partaken of, and the room was prettily lighted with fairy lights. The weather on Friday afternoon was showery, but thia did not prevent a number of people from putting in an appearance at MRS HANMER’S AT HOME, when a very enjoyable afternoon was spent. The musical part of the programme was excellent, Mr McLean’s violin solos being much appreciated. Mrs Butt sang well, as did Mrs Lewis, for whom Mr McLean played an obligato. The tea was delicious and it was quite late before we separated. Mrs Hanmer was dressed in rich black silk with white cap and cuff’s ; Mrs Haines, very pretty black figured with blue and trimmed with lace; Mrs Pierce, black ; Mrs Butt, black silk, handsome jet trimmings: Mrs Hope Lewis, stylish brown cloth figured with blue: Mrs Hitchcock, black; Miss Fenton, navy blue serge; Miss Pierce, black; Miss Lewis, brown check tailor-made costume; Miss Templar, black silk ; Miss Stephenson, fawn. Amongst some STREET DRESSES I have noted Miss Anderson, navy serge, picture flat hat trimmed with bright coloured ribbons; Mrs Isidor Alexander, black cashmere with deep edge of velvet on skirt, the rest was a continuation of rows of velvet, black hat with feathers ; Mrs R.
