The kind and affable host and hostess were unremitting in their attention to their many guests. Mrs Logan looked exceedingly well w earing a very handsome dress of black and gold. Among the other ladies I noticed Mrs D. Brown, rich black silk, cream silk fichu; Mrs Leek, handsome black silk, and some perfect cameo jewellery: Miss Webster, silk gown trimmed with black lace; Mrs McGutfie, becoming black dress, white shawl and lace cap; Mrs E. It. Cardno, black lace costume, heliotrope trimmings; Mrs J. Kerr, black evening dress trimmed with w’hite chiffon ; Mrs J. C. Macky, stylish black velvet dress with train; Mrs Davy, black and silver ; Mrs C. A. Brown, navy blue silk with pale blue trimmings; Mrs Walker, black net; Mrs Keats, black lace: Mrs J. Reid, black silk with jet; Mrs Bennett, cream ; Mrs R. Mitchell, brown velvet skirt, striped bodice of brown and gold : Miss Hill, green with pale brown trimmings; Miss Gordon, coloured delaine ; Miss Cardno, cream cashmere ; Miss Logan, white nun’s veiling, and pink sash ; Miss Seymour, black silk skirt, white blouse ; Miss Jessie Murchie, cream with silk trimmings : Miss Murchie, delaine; Miss Gelson. blue silk; Miss McCorquodale, black, and bead trimmings ; Miss J. The supper-room was most tastefully adorned, and the table was exquisitely arranged. It was replete with choice dishes, and on it was everything one could desire to gratify the taste, as well as to please the eye. A most successful evening was brought to a close by the singing of ‘ Auld Lang Syne ’ in true Scotch fashion. It w as pleasantly warm AT FOOTBALL on Saturday, though damp underfoot. Of the ladies’ dresses. Miss Wylde-Brown (who has just returned from Sydney) was much admired in tomato red cashmere with trimmings ol black, black straw hat with black velvet ; and her sister, spuice tweed with fur, becoming hat of black lace and bright green silk bebe ribbons ; Miss Thomson (Remuera), brown tw’eed with claret velvet, hat and strings of claret velvet; and her sister, neat-fitting navy; Miss Kilgour looked exceedingly well gowned in navy, black velvet, toque ; Miss Von Stunner, fashionable slate-coloured gown, brown toque; her sister w’ore a quaint gown of navy ; Miss Whitson looked nice in claret tweed trimmed with beige velvet, beige hat with beige velvet and ribbons ; and her sister, stylish gown of navy and fox fur; Miss Dudley, pretty gown of navy with tartan sleeves, black Tudor cape, black velvet hat with red trimmings ; Miss Jervis, grey check and black astrachan ; her sister in navy trimmed with fawn ; Miss Otway, striking gown of Nihiliste red. navy jacket, navy flop hat; Miss Bertha Devore, steel gray, and hat en suite ; Miss Heskcth, brown. Auckland friends will be sorry to hear that Miss Campbell, sister of Messrs Hugh and James Campbell, solicitors, has not been well lately. Mrs T. Peacock left by the ‘Takapuna’ on Monday, to make a short stay with her sister in Wellington.
