NEW PLYMOUTH.

Dear Bee, November 25. Miss Humphries celebrated the end of the dancing season with a MOST ENJOYABLE DANCE. to which she invited all her friends. It was held in the Land Room, which Mr Curtis kindly put at their disposal. Everything passed off with the utmost eclut, and it was far into the ‘ wee sma’ hours’ when the party broke up. A large number were present, but I was enjoying myself so much that 1 forgot to make mental notes, and can but tell you a few of them—Misses Holdesworth. G. Hamerton, E. Carthew, Dingle, Mackellar, Weyergang, Vita Bayly, and some of the gentlemen were Messrs R. Bayly. Clark. Rolleston, C. A. Hamerton, and VV. Kirkby. MRS WEBSTER’S DANCE. Mrs T. L. Webster gave a dance at her residence, to which a large number of guests were bidden. Everything went off very well, though the sterner sex were very much in the minority. Amongst the guests were Miss Mee (of Timaru), who wore a red dress and cream sash, which suited her admirably ; Miss Dalziell, who looked very nice in white silk and pink moss roses; Miss Fookes, in heliotrope delaine with ribbons to match; Miss C. Bayly. Miss Hursthouse, Miss Kirkby, Miss Teed, Miss Annie Rennell. Miss Adelaide Rennell, Miss Glynes, Miss Standish, Miss Street, Miss N. Webster, Miss Bird. Miss R. Marshall, and Miss Emily Hamerton, and amongst the gentlemen Messrs Palmer, Wilson, Penny, Teed, Rolleston, Rutherford, W. Kirkby, A. Hempton, T. Fookes, T. Glynes, and A. E. Clark. Mrs Standish entertained a number of friends at her residence, Witiora. Among the guests were Mr and Mrs Weetman. Mr and Mrs Witchell, Mr and Mrs Warren, Rev. F. Walker and Mrs Walker, Mr and Mrs Kerr, Miss Skeet, and Miss Dalziell, Mr and Mrs W. D. Webster.

Miss Govett is expected in New Plymouth in December. She has been away about six months in England seeing and hearing everything. Her fr.endn will be very glad to see her back. The Premier has been staying in New Plymouth for a few days to be under Dr. O’Carroll’s care. He left by special train for V* ellington on Tuesday, accompanied by Mrs Ballance and Dr. O’Carroll.
