THE HUTT.

Dear Bee, November 17. You w’ill find in another part of this paper an account of the very successful ‘ SHOW ’ BALL. Coming after such a spell of dulness it was doubly welcome. Now’ for some frocks. Amongst the many beautiful gowns I think I must mention that of Lady Buckley first, for it was very handsome—of dullish moss green corded silk, made with a very long Watteau train, the corselet being trimmed w’ith handsome gold and pearl passementerie; Lady Hector wore a handsome black satin and jet gown, trained, and carried a lovely bouquet; Miss Hector wore soft white silk with pale blue ribbons ; Mrs E. J. Riddiford wore black, trained, and beautiful bouquet of roses ; Mrs Whitehead, black, with deep yellow chiffon frills; Mrs Treadwell, a very handsome pink merveilleux gown with long Watteau train ; Mrs Heaton, black and yellow ; Mrs Menteath, black lace edged with bright orange and scarlet flow’ers; Mrs Jones, black ; Mrs Hutton (Featherston), black with flowers; Mrs Pratt (Palmerston), black velvet, trained, and trimmed with lace ; Mrs Mowbray, black ; Mrs Eberle, pale yellow or pink soft silk trimmed with bead fringe; Mrs Dan Riddiford (Rangitikei), a pretty white silk gown trimmed with black velvet; Mrs Jackson, black ; {Miss Barton (Featherston), a very new-looking gown, a quaint and pretty combination of bright yellow silk and white silk; Miss — McLean (Dunedin), pale pink trimmed with cream lace ; Miss K. Wilford, white silk ; Miss M. Gore, pale blue satin trimmed with black velvet and jet fringe ; Miss E. Barron, deep red : Miss B. Cooper, white veiling ; Miss A. Bennett (Bulls), pale blue trimmed with daisies; Miss Mowbray, cream and gold net; Miss Jackson, pale yellow ; the Misses Burnett, two in white, another sister in pale and dark green, and another in pink ; the Misses Johnston (three) prettily gowned in black, white, and cream; the Misses Allan (three), the two elder sisters in cream, and Miss M. Allan in black; Miss N. Fairchild, cream; Miss Skerrett, in black, with corselet of black and gold stripes; Miss Manning in black, and her sister in pale blue; Miss Laishley in pink satin, trained; Miss Lucena, Miss Fooks, who is visiting Dr. and Mrs Fooks; Miss Schwartz, Mr and Mrs Stansfield, Sir James Hector, the Rev. Mr Jones, Drs. Whitehead, Purdy and Martin, and Messrs E. J. Riddiford, D. Riddiford. Fitzherbert, Kirk, Wardell (Masterton), C. Pharazyn (Featherston), Wilford, Atkinson, A. Cooper, C. Cooper, Jackson. Gore, Hector, Young, Baldwin, Todd, Grey, Webb, Skerrett, Mowbray, Barron, Robison, Bakewell, Rose, etc. A couple of extras were played at supper time by Mrs Pratt and Mr Allan. V\ e were all heartily sorry when it was over, but will long enjoy the remembrance of the kind hospitality shown to one and all by the ladies of the Hutt and Pet one, who provided one of the pleasantest evenings we have spent for a long time.
