KUMARA.
Dear Bee, May 28. A very enjoyable evening was spent in the Adelphi Hall on the 24th of May in honour of the Queen’s Birthday. The volunteers gave the ball, and it was very well attended by both sexes. The ballroom was beautifully decorated with fems, Howers, pictures and Chinese lanterns. Most of the married ladies wore black. Among them were Mrs Seldon, black merveilleux ; Mrs Wylde, black, with cardinal wrap; Mrs Olsen, black, with pink wrap; Mrs Ziegler, black; Mrs W. Brown, pretty pink dress; Mrs C. Montague, white, with swansdown trimming on bodice ; Miss Aiken, white skirt, white satin bodice, with gold lace trimmings; Miss Jansen wore a very nice trained dress of palegreen llamawith pink chiffon frills; MissSeddon, pink, with cream chiffon trimmings ; Miss Wilson (Wellington) looked very nice in an amber evening dress ; Miss Wright, white, with old rose and white ribbon trimmings ; Miss (trace Wylde wore a very pretty and becoming dress of pale pink, green chiffon frills, and pink feather fan ; Miss Wilson, fawn and pale blue; Miss Ziegler, cream, with eream ami gold net trimmings, cream feather fan ; Miss Olsen, fawn lace over cardinal, cardinal feather fan ; Miss Mclntosh, blue skirt, black bodice with blue bows; Miss Alice McIntosh, blue, with white trimmings ; Miss Florrie Binyon, black lace over pink ; and a great many more ladies whom I cannot remember. Among the gentlemen were Messrs Fannin, Coates, A. Pavitt, Morgan, ,1. D. Oillies and Blakeley (from Greymouth), T. Cahill and A. Mahan (Hokitika), Brown, F. Wylde, A. Dixon, 1!. Wylde, Snow, Wilson, C. Montague, A. 1). B. Campbell, Evans, McGlone, W. Bugg, and many more too numerous to mention.
