PORTUGAL’S EXTRAVAGANT QUEEN.
The Queen Dowager of Portugal, an Italian Princess, married at the age of fifteen, was very extravagant in her ideas. It is reported that on one occasion she brought home from Paris 1,000 pairs of shoes. On another occasion she ordered sixty-nine dresses from Worth and on the way home they were lost at sea. Not discommoded in the least, she duplicated the order. r
