MISS JANET ACHURCH.
Miss Janet Achurch (Mrs Chas. CharringtonJ will make her first api>earance in Auckland at the Opera House on Boxing night. There have been few instances on the stage where an actress of her genius has worked so haul, so thoroughly and consistently, and obtained at so early an age such complete mastery over her own resources. Step by step she has worked, until her recent phenomenal success in London has placed her at the head of her profession. ‘ Some day,’ wrote Ellen Terry to Miss Achurch, ‘ the people shall talk of its wonders. Meanwhile, work’. work! work!’ The prophecy has been. fulfilled, though the admonition was scarcely needed. Heartily we welcome her advent amongst us, not only for her brilliant genius as an actress, but also tor those high solid qualities which have endeared her to all with whom she has come in contact. Her •At Homes ’in Melbourne and Sydney were the most popular receptions of the seasons, Lady Carrington being specially interested in the young mother and hei infant daughter. Mr an i Mrs Charrington and daughter, ami necessary nurse and maid, will reside at the Prince Arthur Hotel, Welleslev street, whilst in Auckland. The opening piece will lie ‘ Forget-me-not,’ rendered so famous by Miss Genevieve Ward, which fame has l>een further increased by her young and only successor in the part of Stephanie. Miss Janet Achurch. Next issue we hope to publish a picture of Miss Achurch, and some particulars of her Parisian gowns.
