TWO SHORT STORIES.
Little Mary, aged four, hal a new hat given her, of which she was very proud. The following Sunday she wore the hat to church, but was dreadfully disappointed at not being noticed by the lad whom her childish affections hail singled out Next day tire little miss saw the little fellow pass, driving a cow, when she immediately climbed upon the fence and cried : ’Oh, Ed, that was me at church yesterday with the new hat on !’
A little girl who had just started to school, and who hail often heard that popular child's story, ‘ Peter Pinder, the Story Teller ’ read, amused her teaclier by declaring that the first thing she wanted to learn to read was ‘ Peter Pinder, the Liar.’
