THE FORBURY CLIFFS.

In the variety and propinquity of its seaside resorts Dunedin has probably the advantage of any of its sister towns. Hilliness is in the nature of nearly every place around Dunedin excepting the narrow expanse of the sandy isthmus connecting the peninsula with the mainland, anil known as South Dunedin and St. Clair. This being within easy walkin" distance of the centre of the town, is thronged by seekers on the occasion of every holiday, who, often continuing their perigrinations a little further along the coast, arrive at the Forbury cliffs. Forbury is a village lying some four miles to the south of Dnnedin in a circle of immense downs. See illustration page 1.
