GOODY TWO-SHOES.
She was a sweet little girl, and she lived with her mother in a cottage near a creek. But one day Goody Two-Shoes fell into the water, and lost her only pair of shoes, besides greatly frightening the water-fairies who could not think what the
funny animal was. She picked herself out, and sat on the bank, and peeped into the creek, but could not see her shoes anywhere. Her mother came and looked too, then took the little gill into the house, and dried her thingsand sent her out again. But Goody No-Shoes cried bitterly. Then the good Fairy Woodleaf appeared, and asked what was the matter, and gave her a pair of lovely new red shoes. So the little girl put them on, and was quite happy.
