LONDON AND PARIS FASHIONS.

SPRING MANTLES AND GOWNS.

No. 1 is a smart coat for early spring wear, made in one of the new diagonal cloths, in a pretty shade of blue, and arranged with the fashionable full sleeves of black velvet. The high collar and the two revers are braided with black in a very elaborate and successful design. No. 2 is a graceful mantle for spring wear, made in pale giey Scotch tweed, and cut in a very simple but becoming shape. The fulness is confined in front by a V-shaped band of cloth. The trimming of grey silk cord passementerie passes round the arm-holes, and also borders the hanging sleeves, the latter being cut in a point, in quite a novel fashion. No. 3 is a very becoming little mantle, exceedingly useful between the seasons. It is made of velvet, with cape sleeves, prettily cut in a kind of zouave shape, outlined with a pointed jet trimming, and bordered by a handsome fringe of bright jet. At the back there is a graceful sash of wide black silk ribbon striped with satin. No. 4 is one of those simple gowns of cashmere, trimmed with ribbon velvet, which seem likely to be very popular this year. The model sketched by our artist was of grey cashmere in combination with olive-green velvet, the skirt being simply arranged with three rows of velvet by way of trimming. The bodice was bordered with velvet round the basque, and trimmed with points of velvet and fichu folds of cashmere. The loops of velvet ribbon on one side of the bodice may be noticed as being particularly pretty. No. 5 is a pretty afternoon or visiting gown, arranged in a combination of heliotrope faille anil a soft cream-coloured woollen fabric flecked with spots of heliotrope, matching exactly the colour of the silk. The full sleeves are of faille, as well as the draperies at the back of the skirt, and the panel on one side, the latter terminating in a row of tabs. The cream woollen fabric is employed for the bodice and for the skirt draperies, which are fastened a little way below the waist with a novel arrangement of buttons and loops, and caught up on one side by a large buckle.
