Ambergris is one of our most valuable perfumes ; indeed it is the basis of nearly all perfumes. It is found sometimes floating on the sea. ami is really a diseased part of the whale. For ‘ fine ’ ambergris, 200 shillings per ounce is quoted at the present moment.
