The difficult and dangerous operation was over. The eminent surgeon turned to the father and said—‘ Your l>oy has lost nearly all of his brain, but he will live.’ ‘That settles his future career,' said the father, with a heavy sigh. ‘ I shall have to bring him up as a Society man.’
