Ground Bice Cake.—|lb of ground rice, pb of butter, Alb of best Hour, |lb of pounded loaf sugar, and 7 eggs (the whites and yolks to be beaten separately), the rind of a lemon grated. Beat all well together for three-quarters of an hour, butter a cake tin, pour the mixture in, and bake fot three-quarters of an hour. —MaUD. Cookies. in spirits of wine or lemon-juice until smooth. To this a<ld sixteen ounces bay rum, half an ounce oil of rosemary, and four ounces tincture cantharides. Two ounces tincture of quinine may be used in place of the sulphate of quinine, if preferred. This quantity will last about two months. The method of using the tonic is to moisten the scalp, applying lotion with a small firm sponge, and then gently brushing the hair at the roots.
