STAGE AND FANCY BALL COSTUMES.

Description of Plate No. 11. (See Fashion Plate. ) We have this week some very interesting sketches. Mdlle. Simonnet, as Mireille at the Opera Comique, wears in the second act an exceedingly becoming Arlesienne jete dress (a), which would make a charming costume fora fancy ball. The hood is in white tulle, with ribbons in black silk brocaded with small pink roses. The fringed fichu is of white crepe de chine, with a corsage in a pearl-grey woollen fabric, and a deep ceinture corse’et in cream wool. The petticoat is also of cream wool, trimmed with a deep band of black velvet bordered with pale pink satin ribbon. The lovely apron is in vert d'eau broche silk with Pompadour bouquets, and grey strings falling behind. Mouse-grey stockings complete the costume. A lady in the auant-scriic de droite, at the Opera Comique, on the first night of Mireille, wore a lovely bonnet made of a diadem of embroidered white silk tulle, and a bunch of daisies in front.

Another lady (c) in a. premiere loge deface wore a pale grey crepe diadem bonnet, with a bunch of tea-roses in front, and strings of the same pale colour as the roses. A charming ‘ at home ’ dress (d), very simple and becoming, is made in beige wool, with a collar, ceinture, and sleeve? of bronze velvet, the latter being fastened by a range from elbow to wrist with silk buttons to match. Mdlle. Simonnet, in the first act of Mireille, wears another more simple Arlesienne dress (e), with a hood in white tulle with black velvet strings at the back. The grenat velvet corsage was laced behind. The Arlesian fichu was of blue gauze, the revers of the sleeves being in white crepe with blue silk trimming. The petticoat is in pale pink wool, with a deep band of grenat velvet. The costume is completed by a grey silk apron, grey stockings, and yellow leather shoes.

The next sketch represents a very smart toilette (f), seen at the premiere of Lecocq’s AH Baba, at the Eden Theatre. 11 is a pretty combination of blue bengaline (in front) and white faille, trimmed with designs of black passementerie and black velvet cuffs, berthe, collar, and ceinture, as de-

signed. The toque hat is of white gauze trimmed witli black velvet. In the last sketch (g) you see a pretty costume made for Mdlle. Cecile Caron of the Vaudeville. The gown is in tur-quoise-blue silvered crepe de chine, with a crossed scarf in white lace trimmed with silver actions, and caught np by a sash of pale blue faille. Pale blue satin butterfly bows are placed on the shoulders. The petticoat is trimmed with three wide silver grtlons, terminating in pale blue satin choux bows. The bonnet to match is in Tuscan straw, trimmed with blue satin, pale blue surah, and a bunch of violets in front. It is tied with pale blue surah strings.
