NEW PARIS FASHIONS.

The sketches made for us tins week represent some of the latest novelties in the way of Paris fashions. The first gown sketched (a) is intended for an ‘at home ’ toilette, and is made with a redingote cut with a short train in striped peau de-soie with narrow stripes of dark olive-green upon a pale yellow foundation. The bodice is a very original one, with loose-folded fronts, while the front of the skirt is in white silk crepe, with a deep hem formed of white point d’Angleterre, and a trimming formed of large beads as designed. White gloves complete this costume. A simple, original, and becoming evening gown (b) for a young; lady forms the subject of the next sketch. It is made in white crepon, with an embroidered design of ivy leaves en sautoir and a pale green satin ceinture « la vierge. The next sketch (c) represents a splendid Louis XVI. dinner dress in a combination of * Eiffel Tower’ shade brocade, with designs of tea-roses and pale-coloured leaves and a trimming of white guipure. The apron is in white crepe de chine. The undergown of the apron is in black surah plisse, while the chemisette is in black silk gauze ruche, as designed. With this gown white gloves are worn. The walking costume, or rather douillctte (d), is a combination (cut as designed) of pale chamois faille and dark chestnut velvet. The douillette is fastened in front, a little toward the right hand side, by small buttons under the velvet. The Slack gauze hat is trimmed with a large oldgold butterfly in front. The gloves are chamois-white. The ribbons both of the ceinture and the hat are in white satin. In the next sketch (e) you see an original costume in fraise ecrasee ottoman silk with black soutache designs. The hat, quite ‘ii jour,’ is a trellis work of black jet, with two black jet aigrettes in front. White gloves complete this costume. The next toilette sketched (f) is of striped black and grey faille. The front part is in pale golden yellow silk gauze, with a deep border of pale golden yellow embroidery. The ball toilette (g) is a combination of black satin and black silk gauze, trimmed with ostrich feathers, as designed, and side quilles of gold gauze spangled with small black spots. The gloves grey. The next sketch (h) represents a very original gown in a combination of black moire with pale gray silk crepe, and pale sulphur gauze, most tastefully arranged. A visiting dress (i) for a young lady or a young married lady is made with an open jacket of grey cloth, trimmed with surah in Eiffel Tower shade, soutache with old gold. The gown is a plainly cut one, in a pale shade to match. The Spanish bolero felt hat has a grey outside border covered with an Eiffel Tower shade, trelliswork of silk chenille and grelots of the same shade. The crown is in black felt, while the pompons are black and grey. A dance toilette, which is both simple and becoming (k), is arranged in a combination of white crepe de chine and Louis XVI. brocade, the design being one of grey stripes and pale yellow ones, spangled with white daisies. An outdoor or visiting costume (1) is worn with a black open-work hat, trimmed with ostrich feathers all round the outside border, and plumes of the same in front, The douillette has a front part in dark purple surah, the remainder being in paler purple cloth. Pale mauve satin revers with buttons of the same shade and dark purple tabs of cloth complete the trimming. =====
