Clio Verne was very fond of rabbits, and one day. after seeing some clever perfcemances by tame mice, it -truck her that she would teach her rabbits to execute various tricks. She had five pretty white ones with pink eyes. She taught two of them to play at see-saw. balancing each other at the end of a small hoard. At first they were very

stupid, but after a wood deal of trouble an*i patience C lio managed to persuade them to take it in turns to go up and down, and not to jump off the minute they reached the top. Another little rabbit was taught to jump through a drum. Two more Clio kept in cages on the table ready to perform various other tricks.
