St. Helen's Hospital

At St. Helens Hospital, Wellington, recently, a very enjoyable and amusing fancy dress party took place. The party which was in honour of the nurses who had just sat for their examination commenced by a procession round the wards, causing the patients much amusement.

Leading the way was a dear old lady in lace cap and walking stick, support d by a benevolent Father Christmas. Next came a tall stately bride and slow plump bridegroom, following these were man}' quaint and amusing costumes.

Competitions, dancing, music and a very appetising supper completed a most enjoyable evening.

Another very pleasant function at St. Helens was a farewell supper party given by the Matron for Sister Joyce (the relieving sub-Matron), who is going to Wanganui St. Helens, as sub-Matron, and Sister Patrick, who was leaving to be married.

Christmas Day, as usual, was a very pleasant day at St. Helens for both pati-

ents and nurses. Early in the morning Father Christmas made his rounds leaving gifts for patients, nurses and domestic staff.

The usual toasts were honoured at dinner, and the opportunity was taken by Matron to present Sister Joyce with a reading lamp, as a small token of esteem from the Matrons, Sisters and nursing staff.
