AUCKLAND. 1. That doctors be circularised asking them to use trained nurses as far as possible, giving them preference over the untrained. 2. That members of this Association who write to the public Press criticising adversely any public hospital, should be dealt with by the Council of their branch, with a view to the termination of their membership. OTAGO. 3. That the whole question of Maternal Welfare should be given the sympathetic and careful consideration of all the branches in its relation both to patients and public, and more particularly to trainees and training schools. 4. That with a view to safeguarding midwifery in New Zealand and encouraging the right type of women to take up the work, a subcommittee (including Matrons of Training Schools) be set up to report to this Conference prior to its rising. (It is suggested that each branch should send a delegate who is specially interested in this branch of nursing.) HAWKE'S BAY. 5. That it should be compulsory for members of other branches to transfer to the one with which they are working after three months. WANGANUI, 6. That the State Examination of a nurse should include a review of the record of her three

years' nursing service — marks for this to be assigned as part of the Practical Examination. 7. That a short period of the nurses' training course should be spent in studying district nursing (as is done by St. Helens Hospital students) for educational purposes. WELLINGTON. 8. That no nurse should be appointed to a Sister's position until she has been a staff nurse for at least two years after qualifying, in her own or another hospital, or both. 9. That before a staff nurse is appointed to the position of Ward Sister she should pass a further examination in : — (a) Practical Nursing. (b) Ward Management. (c) Teaching Methods. 10. The Departmental heads, Hospital Boards, and other local authorities responsible for the appointment of nurses for sepcial work, be asked to appoint, where possible, nurses who have special qualifications for that particular branch of work. 11. That the Hospital Boards' Association be approached with regard to the great need for appointing suitable nurses for all V.D. clinics and the "follow-up" work in conueclection with them.

12. That the Association draw the attention of the Hospital Boards' Association to the desirability of appointing nurses specially prepared and of suitable personality, to be in charge of all out-patient department clinics. 13. That any Nurses' Bureau should be run by the Association for the benefit of the nurses. 14. That maternity nurses who are registered on their training, and nurses in training be admitted to the Association as Associate Members. 15. That the annual fee to the Association and the subscription to "Kai Tiaki" be combined. 16. That in hospitals where a fourth years' service is expected of the nurse, she should have the opportunity during that year of qualifying in one of the following: — (a) Maternity Nursing; (b) Child Welfare Nursing; (c) Neuropathic Nursing; (d) Tuberculosis Nursing. 17. That Matrons of hospitals be asked to bring to the notice of their pupil nurses the advantages of the superannuation scheme and stress the importance of their continuing their payments on leaving their training schools. 18. That a delegate be appointed to the International Conference to be held at Montreal in July, 1929, and the Association take steps to collect material for demonstration purposes.
