State what you know of the effects of, and the treatment of, poisoning by carbolic acid. The comments of the examiner :- — Question 1, with few exceptions, was very indifferently answered, and in some instances not attempted. Question 3 was not well answered by many, and frequently epilepsy was described instead of apoplexy. Question 5. — Many candidates misunderstood sections (b) and (c) of this 1 question, giving symptoms, but omitting altogether management, etc. The question was quite plain, and should not have been misunderstood.

These comments show that nurses' do not Lake the interest in medical nursing that they should, also that their teaching in this section of their training is defective. The comments of the examinees in practical work were also not very favourable, and one of the doctor examiners reported that "Nurses were weak in first aid, but bandaging had improved. Certain candidates showed good average intelligence, but probably 'suffered from lack of opportunity in training and lack of tuition." SURGICAL NURSING. 1.
