EXAMINER'S COMMENTS ON MEDICAL PAPER.

The standard e.f answers was undoubtedly higher than that of any previous papers I have marked, and the average Avas very satisfactory. I should like to suggest that Matrons of hospitals might give their nurses a little advice prior to their sitting for the examination m respect to their methods of attacking the paper set. Candidates shoaild be told that they will not gain marks for matter, correct or otherwise, that is not relevant to the question asked. In these papers it Avas extraordinary the number of candidates who gave themselves the trouble of writing long descriptions of the signs, symptoms, and treatment of Pneumonia and Typhoid Fever. In many cases it was quite obvious that the candidate had made no attempt to read the question carefully. Two rather unique sentences m the papers are almost AV.orth bringing to your notice : (1) The pantriatic juice is pored into the duodenum and converts the Khyam into Khyal , (2) The patient should be given plenty of fresh air and black coffee per rectum. The Examiner's comments on the Surgical Paper are not yet to hand. The folloAving candidates were succcsful m passing: PASSED FIRST. Dunedin Hospital. — Hazel Bentham. 75% AND OVER.
