CANTERBURY BRANCH.

Lectures have been continued during the year and seem to be much appreciated, as shown by the attendance at the meetings. A splendid lecture was given by Professor Shelley, on "Psychology," and was much enjoyed. The hope was expressed that the professor would be heard again at some future time. Miss Muir gave an address m the lec-ture-room at the Hospital on "The Passion Play," as seen m Oberammergau during her recent visit there. Lantern slides were shown, which brought the subject much more vividly to mind and made the scene more realistic. - Supper was handed round by the Hospital sisters. A vote of thanks was accorded Miss Muir for a very pleasant evening.

Dr. W. Irving gave a very instructive lecture on September sth, m the Nurses' Club-room, on "Unorthodox Methods of Treatment," dealing largely with the subject of Chiropractic and sub-like methods of treatment. The lecture was well received by the large number of members present, and a hearty vote of thanks voted to the doctor. Council meetings were held monthly. Miss Muir kindly took the chair during Hiss Hood's absence on holiday. No nomination papers were sent out this year, m accordance with a resolution passed last year. A notice to that effect was inserted m the July number of "Kai Tiaki," and a notice was also placed m the clubroom. Members were invited to send m nominations if they so desired. As no nominations were received, the present Council will remain m office for another year. The Annual Meeting takes place on the 30th October, at 3 p.m., m the Nurses' Club-room, when all members will be welcome. We regret we are unable to send delegates to the Central Council meeting, to be held m Auckland this year.
