International Nursing Students

The first group of nurses who "were selected by the League of Red Cross Societies for Public Health Scholarships started their course in November, at King's College for Women. There are twenty, and they come from Belgium, Canada, Czecho-Slovakia, Denmark, England, France, (lieece, Italy, Peru, Poland, Piortugal, Roumania, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, Serbia, U.S.A., and Venezuela, It is much to be regretted that the time was too short to select and send a nurse from New Zealand, but the Red Cross intends to send one in time for the next course. Apparently Australia also was unable to despatch a student in time. It is remarked that nearly all these twenty students speak English with facil-

ity. The object of the League is to develop educational propaganda in time of peace. A special course has been arranged by the Dean of the College, including anatomy, physiology, hygiene, bacterioloigy, chemistry, elementary science, sociology, and household work; something of dispensing, educational methods, nursing methods in connection with the Salamon centre at Guy's Hospital; and Dr. Trilby King's system of caring for mothers and babies, at Karl's Court. Excursions are planned to various places of interest and instruction. It will be interesting to know how these women from so many different countries and races get on together during their term of residence in London.
