Investiture
On November 23rd, 1920, the Matron-in-Chief, Miss Maclean, R.R.C., was called to an investiture at Government House, Wellington, at which she was presented by Ills Excellency Lord Jellicoe Avith the Florence jN T ightingale Medal, awarded to her by the International Committee of the Red Cross, Geneva, and with the diploma which accompanied the medal. The medal is a beautiful one — an oval, silver medallion pendant, bordered with gold, on which is a representation of i 'The Lady of the Lamp," and on the bor-
der the words, ' * Memoriam, Florence Nightingale, 1810-1920;" on the reverse the name of the recipient. This is surmounted by a red Maltese cross in enamel, surrounded by a wreath of laurel leaves in green enamel and gold, on a ribbon bow of white, scarlet, and gold. After the investiture, at which several officer's and other gentlemen were also decorated, there was a pleasant informal reception and supper, during which His Excellency and Lady Jellicoe conversed with their guests.
