Marriages and Engagements

Miss Rae, late masseuse with the N.Z.E.F., and recently stationed at Queen Mary Hospital, Hanmer, was married to Mr. Hall, at Dunedin, on Monday, July 5.

Miss Lucy Davidson, who was trained at St. Helens Hospital, Wellington, was married on 19th June, to Mr. Beaufort, of Christchurch. Her address is now 296 Hereford Street, Christchurch.

Sister M> Glentworth, of New Plymouth Hospital, is now Mrs. Poynter, of Hawera.

Sisters* Margaret Herbert, late of the N.Z.A.N.S., was married to Mr W. Whitefield (formerly second officer of Maheno), second son of Mr. G. Whitefield, Waikaka Valley, Gore, at the Methodist Church, Te Aroha, on June 30. Rev. Hopper (late chaplain, H.S. Maheno) officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, Mr. W. H. Herbert, M.A., wore a white crepe de chine dress embroidered. in blue silver, and the usual wreath and veil, the latter (worn m style of an Army cap) being beautifully embroidered and lent by Mrs. J. Watson Ritchie (nee Nurse Brabant). Miss Gladys Herbert attended her sister as bridesmaid, while Mr. A. Whitefield, of Gore, acted as best man for his brother. Miss C. Herbert, L.A.B, (sister of the bride), presided at the organ. After the ceremony the guests were entertained at lunch by Mr. and Mrs. Herbert, at their residence, "Wairangi," Te Aroha, where the usual toasts were honoured. Violets and white heather formed the principal decorations both at the house and the church, the latter having been prettily decorated by friends of the bride for the occasion.

On March 25th, 1920, at the Presbyterian Church, Grey town, Nurse W. Muir, late Hospital Rawene, Hokiuuga, was married to Mr. John Archibald, of Kohu Kohu, Hokianga, the Rev. Grundy offici"ating.

Sister M. Jessep, N.Z.A.N.S. Reserve, was married on June 16th to Mr. IT. J. Hight, of Canterbury.

Banks-Smith— Higgins.— May 5, at St. Philip's C. of E., Sydney, by Rev. Canon Bellingham, Dr. R. Gordon Banks-Smith, only son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Banks-Smith, of Balmoral, Parsley Bay, to Amy, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. T. Higgins, of Holyrood, Chatswood, Sydney. Nurse Amy Higgins is known to New Zealand nurses, having been trained m G-isborne and Palmerston hospitals.

On March 10th, 1920, at St. James's Church, Mangere, Onehunga, a marriage was celebrated between Nurse. E. J. Pegler, of Auckland Hospital, and Mr. Sydney Board, of Hangatiki, King Country.

A very quiet wedding took place on Wednesday, March 10th, at All Souls, Wimbaton (S. India), the Rev. Laycock officiating, between Mr. J. E. Sampson, of Pachaimallai Estate, Annamallai, and Miss Winifred Anne Bayliss, New Zealand nursing sister, Auckland. The bride, who was given away by her uncle, Mr. R. D. Anstead, M.A., Deputy-Director of Agriculture, looked charming m a beautiful frock of exquisite white crepe de chine, with large pale blue hat of silk georgette, with a wreath of pale blue and pale pink velvet flowers. She carried a shower bouquet of white roses, and white and pale pink sweet peas. A reception was held at Mr. Anstead 's bungalow at the Agricultural College. The happy pair left later for Kodaikanal, the bride's go-ing-away dress being a very smart coat frock of shantung, with a becoming hat of black and old rose crepe de chine and black ostrich feather rim.

On April 12th, at Auckland, Nurse Alice Cramer, trained Hospital, was married to Mr. Geoffrey Seed. Her home is to be m Auckland, 65 Ardmore Road, Ponsonby. Mrs. Seed wishes to keep m touch with the nursing world, and has sent her subscription for "Kai Tiaki. "

On March 15th, at Wellington, Sister Gladys Robinson was married to Mr Warren Harris. Her home is on a sheep run, Okuri, French Pass.

Sister Janie Campbell was married to Mr. James- Stewart Moir, of Christchurch, m April.

Sister Carrie Young, A.R.R.C., was married recently to Mr. "Walters.

Ware — Bailey. — On February 25th, at St. John's Church, Latimer Square, Christcjhtfrch, by Rev. P. Cocks, Raymond John, third son of Mr. and Mrs. T. G. Ware, Okain's Bay, to Madelene Elizabeth, second daughter of the late H. C. J. Bailey and Mts. C. N. Hodder, Christchurch.- The bride was trained m Christchurch Hospital, and registered m March, 1919.

Nurse Huia Bulkley was married on 29th June to Mr Cedric Herman, of Auckland, at St. James's Church, Lower Hutt. A reception was afterwards held at the residence of Mrs. Canteron, the bride's sister. The bridal pair departed for Sydney tOi spend the honeymoon, and their future home is to be m Auckland.

The engagement is announced of Nurse Hunter, Auckland Hospital, to Mr. Hubert Coates, of Orakei, Remuera, Auckland. ;

The engagement of Miss Maude Hayward to the Hon. Robert Scott, M.L.C., is announced. They are to be married m August, and stationed at Kyrbuen, Central Otajgo.
