NATIVE HEALTH NURSING
To the Editor, Kai Tiaki. Re the article in your last issue on " Native Health Nursing." Ido not quite agree with Nurse Whittaker's letter. So far I have not actually attended a Maori midwifery case, but have been sent for directly afterwards . Judging from the patient's condition and of the treatment, she has gone through , the confinement was anything but " funny." For her to quote that her doctor " thinks " that they are better " unattended " shows that she has had very little experience amongst the Maoris. It will be the greatest factor in preserving the Maori race, when their women seek efficient medical assistance, with hygienic and humane treatment. H.M. La F. Mokai.
