There has been a great deal about a case of a woman called a " nurse " who unfortunately was on the Midwives' Register, and who was brought prominently before the public m connection with a " white slave " traffic case. The Editor caused full enquiry to be made, and raised such a strong protest against the woman being styled " nurse " that the case was brought before the Central Midwives Board, with the result that her name was removed from the Register. Nurses feel strongly that there is no means of preventing this woman from posing now as a trained nurse, and the whole case will undoubtedly prove a strong argument m favour of nurses registration. The nurse's uniform and title has been one of the later devices of the procurers for this vile trade. Until very recently little has been heard of it on this side of the globe ; but some cases lately of disappearance of young girls, and attempted enticing of girls m Sydney, lead us to fear that out here, also, there is need cf caution and of warning. In this, trained nurses may help much.
