Nurse Rosamond Seymore Bailey was married on Wednesday, April 2nd, at 2.0 o'clock to Mr. William Oscar Timme, at St. Peters Church, Belsize Park, Hamstead, N.W.

At her home at Waverley, Nurse Ansell trained at St. Helens hospital, was last month married to Mr. Garnett Cooper, of Wellington.

Mrs. Thompson's (late Nurse Mead of Wellington hospital) baby secured first prize at the baby show at the Easter Carnival at Newtown Park. The baby is only nine months old, and weighs two stone nine pounds.

Miss Lucas, of the Private Hospital, Willis Street, had a very exciting experience at Easter time, when a fire broke out m one of the upstairs rooms, afterwards traced to the kitchen chimney. Fortunately there were only three patients upstairs, and Miss Lucas and her staff quickly got them downstairs ; the fire brigade arrived and the fire was subdued so quickly that the patients downstairs were not disturbed at all.

Nurse Leashmann, of Christchurch Hospital, was m January appointed a sister m the Wanganui Hospital.

Nurse Galloway, late of Timaru Hospital, was also appointed a sister at Wanganui.

Miss Nurse was temporarily on the staff of the " Limes," and has now returned to Wellington.

Miss Annie Robins, trained at Guy's Hospital, and assistant matron at Taunton Hospital, has been appointed by the Auckland Hospital Board assistant matron to Miss Orr under whom she served m England.

Miss Kassie Turner has returned to the " Limes" after her trip to England. We hope to have some of Miss Turner's impressions of what she had seen. :£ :fc fy :|:

Nurse Kelly writes from LJruti that the people of the district have decided to build a cottage for their nurse. This will be a great advantage and an inducement for a good nurse to stay here.

Nurses Affleck, Lea, Young, and Wallace of New Plymouth hospital, who passed the recent State examination, have been appointed staff nurses.

Miss Murray, late of Western Australia, and trained at the London hospital, has been appointed sister m charge of the new maternity ward at the Wellington hospital. The ward is shortly to be opened and is for the cases not eligible for admission to St. Helens hospital. It will be probably utilised also as a post graduate school for some of the Wellington hospital nurses.

Nurse Greenslade, trained m midwifery at the Townley Maternity Hospital, and formerly of the Riverton Hospital, has been appointed district nurse at Matawai, where her chief duty will be to attend the families of the workers on the railway line.

Nurse E. Gates has just had her annual holiday and spent it m Ashburton. Shewrites from Pongaroa that she is very happy m her district work, and cannot speak too highly of the kindness of the people though she often longs for the refinements of town life.

Nurse Brown, trained at Ashburton Hospital, is now sister at Napier Hospital.

Miss Mandeno, who recently returned from a trip Home is now taking charge of Dr. Henderson's private hospital at Te Awamutu. Her sister lately from Dunedin is assisting her. * * * * * *

Miss Mary Anderson, trained at Christchurch hospital, and later of Nelson hospital, is going as sister to Te Waikato sanatorium.

We are glad to learn that Miss McKenny, Matron of Wanganui Hospital, who has been on long leave, on account of her health, and has been under treatment m Dunedin, is now convalescent . She is now at Pahiatua and hopes to resume her duties at the beginning of May.

Miss Berry writes from Manchester, England, where she is on the staff of a large private hospital, gaining an insight into nursing m England, but hopes to return to New Zealand eventually. She says she misses the bright sunny days of New Zealand, and there is so much smoke and dirt about that you never feel clean. Manchester is the dirtiest town she has- ever been m. So far she sees very little difference m the actual nursing, which is the same all the world over and finds the newer hospitals m New Zealand compare very favourably and the doctors kept themselves so much up-to-date that even m Napier they were carrying out the most recent treatments known. She remarks that the salaries are small, an ordinary rate being £30, and the prices of everything has gone up so much, that money does not go so far as heretofore. * * * :|: :|; :|;

Nurse M. C. Lloyd has been appointed District Nurse m Palmerston North, and took up her duties m December.

It is announced that Nurse Diack, Matron of Naseby Hospital is about to be married to Dr. Lilly of Naseby.

Nurse Dora Groucher is now visiting Nurse attached to the Nurses' Club m Wellington.

Nurse Brandon, who has been m charge of the Kensington Street Private Hospital, has resigned that position, and is about to spend an extended holiday m Sydney.

Miss Inglis resignation was much regretted by the Department.

Nurse Miller, of Dunedin Hospital is now going through her midwifery training at St. Helens, Wellington.
